We're Back!
Almost 5 days past since Caster.Fm taken down for a "quick" maintenance,
well it wasn't quick as we thought it would be, and not easy as well.
but eventually we got it all running...(running well).
however, we haven't finished yet and there are some minor things to be done.
we will continue to work on those things while meanwhile everything should work pretty fine.
in the meantime please report us about any issue/bug/error you encounterd at
contact@caster.fm
Now, to the main part of this email - THINGS WE ACTUALLY DONE:
- we've added couple of servers dedicated to Icecast services.
- as well as cloud server for all of our static content so pages load time now should
be pretty fast.
- we've increased the network capability, so each of our servers now got 1 GigE dedicated port.
- updated our PHP engine and some other OS tweaks.
As for your radios:
- We've added a Status block Embed code (which you can find at your cp)
( see: http://blog.caster.fm/p/embed-test.html )
- Player should now work with Iphone and any Android Phone (blackberry should work as well)
- increased the number of listeners to 200 (soon will be increased again)
- servers are going to be globally shut down every midnight )America/Chicago timezone - UTC/GMT -6 hours), but once turned on they will stay on until the next global shutdown even if idle.
- some minor changes to your radio pages.
ANOTHER THINGS YOU WILL NOTICE:
Your server IP address and port have changed, please change your clients accordingly.
You may stream at 128Kbps without any problems now.
Your Podcasts has been removed due to a method reset.

Improve, expand and innovate...
Dear Casters,
As you probably noticed, we have experienced technical difficulties twice during the past month.
The first one - earlier this month, happened as a result of overload on our main web server.
The recent one caused due to DDOS attack on our servers (servers fully returned to service within two hours).
However, Caster.fm has grown rapidly and we are doing our best to keep up, improve, expand and innovate in order to provide you the best service possible.
So; In addition to several new features about to be released as we promised,
Caster.Fm will be down for 2-3 days from Thursday 29.03 in order to upgrade and expand our infrastructure,
then we will send you an email once Caster.Fm is up and running again.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THE EMBED PLAYER USERS:
We updated the Embed player code,
This means that from the 29.03 the old Embed code won't work anymore.
The new embed code is available in your control panel,
Please take your time and update your website/blog.

Maximum number of listeners!!!
As it appears to us 100 listeners is not enoth for some of you. so we thout that you can influence the maximum number of listeners this month !!!
So the number of listeners will be proportional to the number of people that like caster.fm on Facebook.
the formula to this is: number of likes divided by 10
so lets say that by the end of the month the number of likes will be 2200 than the maximum number of listeners will be 220!
- The only condition is that caster.fm must pass the 2000 likes! by the end of this month.

Quick Server Maintenance Today
Dear casters and broadcasters,
for a quick server maintenance, we need to restart the server, therefore for a period of a couple of minutes you might encourage a problem starting your server or broadcasting. Moreover, active stations will be disabled for that time, until you restart them again. The server restart is scheduled for tonight at 2:00 PM Chicago Time (UTC/GMT -5 hours).

Regarding The Upcoming Upgrade - And Meanwhile.
Dear casters and broadcasters,
Like it had been promised the update should have been already released a couple of months ago, but it didn't. We could have released it, however it wasn't satisfying enough and the growth of features that you requested made us to delay the update. We understand your anticipation and your frustration from this long waiting, and we promise to do our best in this upcoming update.
If all goes by the plan than the full update will air by the end of next month, with lots of new features in stored in it.
However, words are not enough to compensate.
Therefore, we decided to give you something in return for your long waiting and dedication.
From this moment and until the update launch,
we remove the encryption from ALL the streams,
SO YOU CAN NOW JUST EMBED YOUR RADIO STREAM TO YOUR WEBSITE WITHOUT ANY LIMITATIONS,
you can also share your listeners with a link to direct stream with no need to generate it on your caster page.
The most important thing for us is you, our dear casters. Please be patient and we promise, you will be rewarded. (:
